Why Use a Certified
Career Coach?
Invest in the
best for your career success.
The coaching profession is relatively
young, with about a fifteen-year history of growth. There are now
hundreds-of-thousands of coaches worldwide--many are certified; many more are
not.
Choosing a coach takes time, thought, and
personal interaction. You need to believe that working with your chosen coach
will affirm you and transform you. Many times, your choice will be a gut
reaction. However, certification will build your trust in that gut
reaction!
A certified coach has taken the time
to prove her value by undergoing advanced training and testing. In addition, she will have signed, and will live and work by,
the code of ethics that is often a component of certification or the
certifying organizations (see Career
Masters Institute and National
Resume Writers' Association codes of ethics).
You will also need to consider other factors
including
- Mutual compatibility,
life, and career experience (has the coach "been there and
done that?")
- Interest in you as the client (are you the most
compelling thing in that coach's life during the time you spend together?)
- Published work
and public speaking (does the coach have an industry
reputation?)
- Professional
development (does the coach take the time needed to learn new
and best-in-class techniques?).
- Leadership in
the careers community.

qualifications are among the best in the careers field.
